At this point there are still NO evacuations, but a bomb detection team is coming out to make sure there is no threat.
Peterson AFB has issued this alert:
The road to Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station is closed temporarily after a detection system tested positive on a vehicle at the gate near the installation visitors' center.
An explosives ordnance detection team and a military working dog bomb detection team from the 21st Space Wing at Peterson AFB is enroute to the scene to investigate.
"Our first responders are equipped and ready to handle these types of situations," said Col. Rusty Wilson, 721st Mission Support Group commander. "We take installation protection seriously and until we can verify the truck's contents, we are proceeding with caution."
NORAD Road, the road into Cheyenne Mountain AFS, is closed as a precautionary measure, part of the installation's protection procedure.
Officials ask non-essential personnel to avoid the area to allow emergency responders access to the scene. Broadmoor Bluffs residents should use alternate routes into the area, avoiding NORAD Road.
